Categories of Personal Data

We collect only the information you provide when registering a FLARM device:

  • Pilot’s name
  • Aircraft registration
  • Device radio address
  • Contact details (email address)
  • Optional fields you choose to fill

Purposes & Lawful Basis

We process your data to:

  • Operate and maintain the FLARMnet registry (Art 6(1)(b) GDPR)
  • Provide you with registry access and support (contract performance)
  • Enable search and identification of devices for safety purposes

Data Minimisation & Retention

We retain your personal data only as long as your FLARM device remains active in the registry. Inactive entries (no updates for 10 years) will be purged automatically.

Recipients & International Transfers

Your data is hosted by our processor in the EU/EEA or Switzerland. Switzerland is not part of the EU/EEA, but is recognized by the European Commission as providing adequate data protection. We do not transfer personal data outside these jurisdictions. Should we need to do so, we will implement EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

Security Measures

We employ technical and organizational safeguards, including:

  • Encryption of data at rest and in transit (TLS, AES-256)
  • Access controls and audit logs
  • Regular security assessments and vulnerability scans

  • Rectify inaccuracies
  • Request erasure (“right to be forgotten”)
  • Restrict or object to processing
